The announcement furthers the so called "ambidextrous" strategy of embracing various technologies that AMD's newly appointed CEO, Rory Read, has touted to help turn around the company, whose sluggish finances in recent years have been a concern to investors.
Patrick Moorhead of Moor Insights Strategy, who spent 11 years in various positions at Advanced Micro Devices, agreed, noting that using ARM's TrustZone features allows AMD to respond to Intel's Lv Belt Damier Ebene
Given the growing threat hackers and cyberthieves pose, "it's clear that we needed to do something there," van Doorn said of the decision to add security to AMD's chips. Rather than trying to develop its own protections, he added, "it seemed to make more sense with us to work with ARM."

its Santa Clara adversary is likely to remain the dominant supplier of microprocessors for PCs, "it's going to help AMD in its competition with Intel and it's going to help ARM in its competition with Intel."
Adding a new wrinkle in its competition with Intel (INTC), Sunnyvale chipmaker Advanced Micro Devices on Wednesday said it will for the first time incorporate a chip architecture from British firm ARM, a design that it and Intel traditionally have shunned.
"It was a clever move on their part," said Nathan Brookwood, an analyst at Saratoga market consulting firm Insight 64. While Louis Vuitton Belts For Women
AMD's chips with the ARM components will appear in low power notebooks and tablets but eventually will be added to desktop computers and servers, said Leendert van Doorn, an AMD corporate fellow.

AMD said it will begin outfitting chips in 2013 with ARM's so called TrustZone security features, which are now built into many smartphones. Initially, the mix of Hermes Belt Men Brown
Santa Clara based Intel and AMD have been competing against each other with a microprocessor design dubbed x86 since the 1980s, when IBM began building its personal computers with Intel's chips and chose AMD as the chips' backup supplier. Since then, AMD has largely lived in the shadow of Intel, which typically sells at least 80 percent of the microprocessors used annually in Hermes Belt Design personal computers.
However, Intel until recently has been shut out of smartphones, which mostly use ARM based chips. Moreover, some analysts believe ARM chips soon could begin appearing in personal computers and servers, posing a significant threat to Intel's business. So they applauded AMD's disclosure that it is joining forces with ARM.
